Fate/Free Will? Part 1

My life’s experiences have repeated demonstrated the life I experience – are my options – BUT they come at a price!

Sometimes it seems there are no favorable options. The lesser of two evils, occasionally only Sophie’s choices. BUT – with me hanging in the balance!

It’s said, “The devil is in the details!”

So is life’s celebration!

It’s easy to focus on the difficult times but doing that gives life’s challenges even more power, exponentially increases them!

Alternatively, at these pivotal moments, I karaoke Sonlight by Carmen Moshier, if only silently, in my mind. My Soul doesn’t care or prefer one way or the other.

Carmen Moshier ~ Sonlight

What does matter – IS – where’s my focus? What feeling am I giving my energy? That’s what I’m increasing!

I embrace our Giants and their experiences, allowing their actions and results to empower me. Fuel my drive! Propel me through my difficult times.

I imagined this process that is inspired by a practice from ancient Greece.

There, it was expected that those called to adventure would return to their village. Those lucky few who triumphed were celebrated and revered as heroes.

Those who didn’t return victorious were celebrated as, like Teddy Roosevelt put it – Men in the arena, here and here told their tales, shared their experiences, fueling and guiding their audience to their own adventure.

I call it embracing our giants, and use their guidance to empower me today, as described here and here.

I want my experiences, my journey to be like the path laid out by William James. After his life had been a total disaster to the point he was ready to call it quits, he tried one more thing. Like the late Steve Jobs later saying, “One more thing” then presenting a showstopper, James’s one more thing turned his life a complete 180! Today he’s remembered as The Father of American Psychology, a leading thinker of his times, and one of America’s most influential philosophers as explained here.

Sure, it’s difficult to turn my life around. So why bother?

Because, as Neil Diamond’s story Create Me explains – it’s calling to me!

It awakened me and I want it!

Therefore, as Carmen encourages in her story Choose – I choose to reach for it!

Carmen Moshier ~ Choose

It’s worth it – regardless the effort!

Until next time,
Joe
